Project Overview
Hawksmoor has been appointed by strategic land and investment client CEG to promote a major urban extension at Hanwood Road on the south-western edge of Shrewsbury.
The site had been identified within the former draft Shropshire Local Plan Review as a strategic allocation capable of delivering a significant mixed-use development. Proposals include up to 1,200 new homes alongside employment land, a community centre and land to support the future expansion of a recently established primary school.
The project represents a key opportunity to support the long-term growth of Shrewsbury by delivering new housing, employment opportunities and community infrastructure in a sustainable and well-planned urban extension.
Role of Hawksmoor
Hawksmoor is providing strategic development consultancy and coordinating the promotion of the site through the emerging Local Plan process.
Working closely with CEG and a multidisciplinary consultant team, Hawksmoor oversaw the preparation of the technical evidence base required to support the site during the Shropshire Local Plan Examination. This included coordinating a range of surveys and reports relating to environmental matters, transport, and infrastructure capacity.
Hawksmoor is also leading the preparation of the development framework and masterplan for the wider former allocation, which will include:
